[penci_text_block style_block_title=“style-title-9″ block_title_align=“style-title-left“ custom_markup_1=““]As the name suggests, the municipality has been inhabited since ancient times by various nations: the Illyrians, the Celts, the Romans, the Avars, the Slavs, the Hungarians, the Turks, the Germans and others. Stara Pazova was first mentioned in the writings 300 years ago, while the older settlements were mentioned in the 15th century – Belegiš, Vojka and Surduk. A rich archaeological treasury was found at these sites which belonged to the cultures of the bronze, iron and Neolithic era. The Celtic tribes penetrated into Pannonia in the middle of the 4th century. Therefore, our regions were inhabited by the Celtic tribe Scordisci. In the Middle Ages, these places were inhabited by numerous people: Slovenes, Avars, Hungarians, and later the Turks. With the arrival of Austrians begins a new era in the development and arrangement of the settlement. Most of the settlements of the municipality belonged to the Military Frontier of the Habsburg Monarchy, when the intensive settlement of Srem began by the Slovak, German and Croatian communities. In the post-war period, the population from different parts of the former Yugoslavia is moving more and more.[/penci_text_block]
