The house of the Slovak national hero Janko Čmelikin Janka Čmelika Street 62 in Stara Pazova is significant because the national hero Janko Čmelik was born there. It was built in the first half of the 20th century and represents a type of the rural architecture. Janko Čmelik was born in 1905 in Stara Pazova and originates from a poor peasant family. He worked as a wage-earner and soon entered the labor movement. He was a member of KPJ since 1935, a member of the KPJ Srem Committeein Stara Pazova since 1937, and a member of the District Srem Committee since 1939. In his neighborhood, he stood out by doing both the legal and illegal workfor the advanced movement. He also engaged himself in the promotion of the co-operative. On his behalf, the fallow lands and pastures were ploughed, the communities were parceled out and given to poor families in Stara Pazova so that they can feed their children. He was shot in May 1942 in Sremska Mitrovica. They brought him on the stretcher since he was exhausted and shot him. Nevertheless, he held himself heroically. He was proclaimed the national hero of Yugoslavia, on October 25, 1943. In the homeland museum there is an ethnological, cultural, historical and documentary setting representing the entire municipality.
